‘Share Your Love’ with the Westhampton Rotary Club this February A special appeal from Jim Hulme, President February…the month of Valentine’s Day and love and passion. It’s a special time to let loved ones and friends know that they hold a special place in our hearts. As the President of the Westhampton Rotary Club, I can tell you that our small-but-mighty service club, chartered in 1953, is near and dear to my own heart. Our hard-working board members and fellow Rotarians are passionate about raising money to help people. They truly embody Rotary’s motto: “Service Above Self.” And now we’re asking for YOUR help. Like many non-profit organizations, our club’s fundraising efforts have been greatly hampered since the start of COVID-19 last spring. This year we were not able to hold our annual Spaghetti Dinner, always a much-loved Rotary fundraiser in the Westhampton community. Additional fundraising events this year are also in limbo. The Westhampton Rotary Club uses the money we raise to give scholarships to graduating high school seniors and to support such local, national, and international organizations as Camp-Pa-Qua-Tuck, the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center, Boy Scout Troop 62, East End Hospice, the Quogue Wildlife Refuge, the Westhampton Cultural Consortium, the Hope for Children Fund, the Salvation Army, and the Westhampton High School’s Robotics, Virtual Enterprise and Interact Clubs. During the month of February, will you help us by donating to the Westhampton Rotary Club so our efforts can continue? ANY donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated but for every $50 you donate we will enter your name in our “Share Your Love” raffle. (A $50 donation gets one chance at winning one of our great raffle prizes below, $100 donation gets two chances, etc.) Envelopes must be post-marked by 2/28/21 and winners will be selected on 3/5/21. YOU MIGHT WIN ONE THESE GREAT PRIZES: - $75 Gift Certificate to Roses & Rice Flower Shop
- A ‘Wine, Dine and Relax” Basket of Romantic Treats
- $100 Gift Certificate to the Patio
- $100 Gift Certificate to the Margarita Grill
- $100 Gift Certificate to the Stone Creek Inn
- $100 Gift Certificate to Flora Restaurant
- A Silver Heart Necklace and Pair of Silver Earrings
Please send your donation to: WHR Charities, Inc. P.O. Box 124 Westhampton, NY 11977 Thank you. I hope we’ll be calling YOU on March 5th to let you know that you won one of our great prizes! Jim Hulme P.S. Please complete the form (listed in Document Download to the left) and return it with your donation so we know how to contact you if you win.

As a result of the Covid pandemic closures, our Rotary club, like most other groups, was unable to meet for several weeks. Although we met virtually, there were no meals to be shared. Members came up with the idea to donate the money that would have been spent on their meals to the club. It was then decided the funds would be used in the local community. We named our action “Second Helping” to reflect our paying forward to the community. On Wednesday, August 26th, members of the Westhampton Rotary Club delivered salads and heroes to the 125 “heroes” working at the Westhampton Care Center. Many thanks to Hurricane Deli for giving Rotary a generous discount. The Club also brought dinner to the hard-working members of the Westhampton Ambulance crew during their monthly meeting earlier in the week.

It is with deepest sadness we share the news of Tom Kerr's passing. He served as Club President twice, District Governor, on the District Youth Exchange Committee and performed countless small jobs in service to Rotary and his community. May the family be comforted and held in all our prayers.

A Rotarian is a person who: digs wells they will never drink from – vaccinates children they will never meet – restores eyesight for those they will never see – builds houses they will never live in – educates children they will never know – plants trees they will never sit under – makes crawlers into walkers halfway around the world – knows real happiness as Albert Einstein said, “happiness can only be found by helping others."

As a Rotarian engaged in a business or profession, I am expected to:
1) Consider my vocation to be another opportunity to serve;
2) Be faithful to the letter and to the spirit of the ethical codes of my vocation, to the laws of my country, and to the moral standards of my community;
3) Do all in my power to dignify my vocation and to promote the highest ethical standards in my chosen vocation;
4) Be fair to my employer, employees, associates, competitors, customers, the public, and all those with whom I have a business or professional relationship;
5) Recognize the honor and respect due to all occupations which are useful to society;
6) Offer my vocational talents: to provide opportunities for young people, to work for the relief of the special needs of others, and to improve the quality of life in my community;
7) Adhere to honesty in my advertising and in all representations to the public concerning my business or profession;
8) Neither seek from nor grant to a fellow Rotarian a privilege or advantage not normally accorded others in a business or professional relationship.
