After a full academic year in Japan as an outbound Rotary Foreign Exchange student, Westhampton Beach High School graduate Sarah Jurgielewicz has a lot of stories to tell.  She expressed her great admiration and thanks for the Foreign Exchange program to the members of the Westhampton Rotary Club at their regular weekly meeting at Dockers  Restaurant on August 18th.

The program is designed to provide  the broadest possible social experience and Sarah moved to a new host family four times during her stay.  Her homes-away-from-home were provided by volunteer parents on Shikoku the smallest island of the four main islands of Japan.   Because of Sarah’s great skill with languages  she was able to fit in and become part of the Shinonome Matsuyama Jr/Sr High School  without much difficulty.  The all-girls institute is built into a corner of an old castle and has served its community since the Meiji period.

Sarah is attending SUNY New Paltz this year with a proposed major in international relations and a minor in foreign languages.
